MyRec.com recommends that all departments take advantage of the gift certificate product option as a way for customers to purchase account credit to use later for fee-based offerings with your department.
Gift Certificate Setup
Create Gift Certificate Category
- Navigate to the Products menu on the leftside navigation bar
- Click Product Categories
- Click Add New Product Category at the top of the screen
- Create a category called Gift Certificate
- Keep Active and click Submit
Create Gift Certificate
- Navigate to the Products page in the Products menu
- Click Add New Product in the top right
- Create a new product for each gift certificate denomination
- Suggestion: include the denomination in the title of the product i.e. $5 Gift Certificate
- Enter price, category, tax, and status settings
- Include a description if desired
- Select gift certificate from the product type options
- Uncheck Hide from Public to sell this on the public side
- Assign the budget group
- Add a photo for public side products
- Click Submit
Redeem Gift Certificates
Public Side Redemption
Instructions for both the purchaser and the recipient are included on the printable gift certificate, which is emailed to the purchaser and also in the purchaser's account overview page.
- The recipient will navigate to their account overview page
- Click Redeem Gift Certificate in the Other Purchases column
- Copy the gift certificate number to redeem from the gift certificate or from the purchaser's account
- Paste into the field and submit
- Gift certificate denominations will become account credit within the recipient's account
Management Side Redemption
- Navigate to the purchaser's account overview page
- Under Point of Sale, copy the gift certificate number to redeem
- Navigate to the recipient's account detail page
- Click Redeem Gift Certificate in the top right corner
- Copy the gift certificate number to redeem from the gift certificate or from the purchaser's account
- Paste into the field and submit
- Gift certificate denominations will become account credit within the recipient's account
