Standard Program Boat Dock Setup
If your department is looking for solutions to rent boat docks or boat slips to the community, this sample setup will allow the public to purchase their slip (or select it free of charge, if desired), while also allowing the staff to send out blasts, have a roster, and utilize the digital sign-in along with all other Standard Program features. Using a facility reservation setup does not offer the rostering or communication blast options that the standard program setup does, which is what we are modeling here.
Creating the Slips as Products
- Move to the Products menu on the left and click Products
- Create the individual boat docks by clicking Add New Product in the top right corner of the screen
- Name the product with the slip number and season
- Set the fee to $0
- The activity fee will be set up to charge the user in this example
- If you plan to allow an individual to purchase multiple slips, you may want to assign the fee here to the slip products and set the fee for the activity to $0 instead
- The activity fee will be set up to charge the user in this example
- Set the inventory quantity to 1 so that a slip cannot be double purchased

- The remaining product setup should be as follows:
- Create and select a product category for reporting
- Do not check Hide from Public
- Do not check Sold Out from the Public
- Check Use Product Inventory
- Check Show Availability to Public
- Generate Barcode if you want to scan the item to give the customer their credentials or sticker at their first visit, or to scan for any special events
- Assign the Budget Group
- Click Update

- Click Clone Product Info in the upper right corner if you need multiple slips
- Update the inventory on each product to 1
- Make sure each product is toggled Yes for Add-On Product
Create an Activity Question

- In the Programs menu, click Questions to add a new question
- Add the question “Which boat slip did you select?”
- You will later add this to the Requirements tab of your activity
- Add the question “Which boat slip did you select?”

You can use this answer if there is any discrepancy between the slip purchased and the slips available. These should match if the customer completed the process accurately.
