Our Philosophy
Recreation is for everyone. Parks, pools, summer camps, and senior centers exist to bring people together. At MyRec.com, our core goal is to help you deliver those experiences simply and effectively. We believe that software should never act as a barrier for anyone to engage with their community, and have built our product around that philosophy.
No one should be an afterthought. Accessibility isn't just a checkbox for us. It’s fully baked into the system from start to finish. We don't use third-party overlays or add-on widgets to “squeeze in” accessibility considerations after the fact, because every element is designed, developed, tested, and maintained with the end user in mind.
Inclusion over accommodation. Our approach to building accessible software is based on the idea that accessibility is not about carving out exceptions for some users. It’s about building a complete system that works for everyone from the jump.
Conformance Standards

Client Configuration
An essential part of MyRec.com includes a public-facing self-service website that allows our clients’ community members to register for programs, rent facilities, make payments, and more. We offer a number of customization options to give our clients the freedom to tailor the public side in a way that caters to their specific needs.
We understand that customization is very important to our clients, so in order to maintain that flexibility, clients should be aware that their customization choices may interrupt the experience for disabled users. Adjusting colors to a low contrast ratio, adding insufficient captions to images, broad use of images containing text, requiring redundant information on custom forms, offering some forms or information exclusively through PDF download, and other practices can create barriers for users, even when everything else is working as intended.
In an effort to set our clients up for success, we offer practical, plain-language guides on many topics in our Knowledge Base. We have also hosted a live webinar, “Access for All,” which pinpointed elements of WCAG 2.2 that are relevant to MyRec.com clients and outlined best practices for maintaining those standards. The webinar recording and associated slides can also be found in the Knowledge Base.
